POSTING BITS

Extended Reality

We are supposed to live in a „digitized world“. Why are we then still interacting with digital data on screens, drowning in menus, cryptic graphic user elements or unlearnable gesture sets? This requires much of our attention, keeping us separated from the ordinary physical environment within which we live and interact, instead of enhancing it.

This project approaches this problem and presents a set of interaction paradigms based on the augmentation of sticky notes, paper maps and sketches towards a closer integration of the digital world and our daily life.

With our functional prototype we show –in a tangible, playable and experienceable way– that a digital world beyond the screen is possible.

„The most profound technologies are those that disappear. They weave themselves into the fabric of everyday life until they are indistinguishable from it.“

– Mark Weiser, 1991
